PHOENIX

“Phoenix” is published annually by the Associated Students of Clark College in collaboration with the Art Department. All contributors, editors, and volunteers are members of the Clark College community. Anyone who is a student, alumni, or faculty/staff member in the year of publication is eligible to submit work for possible inclusion.

The pieces in this volume reflect a variety of ways artists explore texture, movement, feeling, and atmosphere. Together, they show that the experience of art is not singular, but shaped both by the process of creating it and by the people engaging with it.

This idea also shaped the design of the journal itself. Accessibility was an important consideration throughout this process, especially in how the publication could be encountered beyond a purely visual format. The tactile elements included on the cover were created as part of this intention. Rather than existing separately from the theme, they are meant to extend it, inviting people to interact with the journal in a more physical and inclusive way.
